Michael Dillon was born in Ireland
in 1957. His interest in painting started in childhood
when he drew and painted many of the numerous species
of birds to be found near his family home on the East
Coast of Ireland. He subsequently farmed in Ireland,
New Zealand, England and France before returning to
his first love of painting.
He has worked independently since
1989 and is now based in Dorset. He continues to travel
widely to undertake commissions, more recently in
North America, the West Indies, Africa, France, Spain
and Ireland. Most of his work is to be found in private
residences but some can be seen in public places such
as the Fountain Restaurant and Food Hall at Fortnum
& Mason and the restaurant at Hatfield House.
He has also worked for the National Trust and a number
of country house hotels in Ireland.
Michael Dillon works closely with
his clients and has carried out a variety of commissions,
both large and small, which include fantasy murals,
historical decorations, trompe l'oeil, hoardings,
the design and decoration of furniture and luxury
packaging. He particularly enjoys figurative painting
and combining people, animals, landscape and architecture
in "Excursions into Fantasy".
Highlighted work includes; The
National Trust and Fortnum
and Mason.
